The satisfaction and bragging rights of completing the most EPIC race ever! Oh yeah, plus a free EPIC participant T-shirt, sweet finisher medal, free event photos, an invitation to the most EPIC post-race party, and an insanely fun time with us at EPIC Series!
No, joining a team is not mandatory, but it is much more fun to race with friends!
At the moment we do not permit multiple laps of the course. If you want to be on the course after your run to assist another Athlete, that is permitted as long as you do not obstruct any other Athletes from completing any obstacles. You will also only receive one finisher medal and T-shirt after completion of your original run through the course.
You can easily upgrade to the Competitive Wave from your dashboard after logging in to your registration account. There may be an upgrade fee of $5.00.
The EPIC Course and ELITE Course are two completely separate courses. The EPIC Course is longer, has more obstacles, offers different difficulty level options at each obstacle, and Athletes are released in group waves. The ELITE Course is an optional course intended for competitive athletes to complete after they have finished the EPIC Course competitive waves. The ELITE Course is much shorter, has approximately 10 strength challenges incorporating heavier weights, barbells, kettlebells, Atlas Stones, and a truck pull. Athletes run through the ELITE Course individually with a judge and must complete the course within a certain amount of time.
Completing the EPIC Course in the competitive waves is a mandatory prerequisite to completing the ELITE Course.
Competitive Waves are more expensive because Athletes in these waves are competing for podium prizes. They are also running during prime morning start times.
Competitive Waves: These waves are competing for podium awards. Completing the course in the competitive waves is also a prerequisite for competing in the ELITE Course. In these waves, Men must do all Black/Advanced obstacles, and Women must do all Blue/Intermediate obstacles (but may also do Black/Advanced obstacles if they choose).
Open Waves: These waves are mixed level and not competing for podium awards. Athletes may complete the obstacles at any level they choose.
Competitive Waves: These waves are competing for podium awards. Men must do all Black/Advanced obstacles, and Women must do all Blue/Intermediate obstacles (but may also do Black/Advanced obstacles if they choose). If an Athlete in the competitive waves can not complete an obstacle at their prescribed level, they may still continue to complete the course but are disqualified from receiving a podium award if they finish with a top finishing time. At this time we do not issue penalties if someone can not complete their prescribed level or has to skip an obstacle; they just lose podium eligibility.
Open Waves: In these waves we encourage Athletes to at least attempt the Green/Novice level obstacles. Modifications are allowed. We do not issue penalties if an Athlete is unable to complete an obstacle or has to skip. This is YOUR course, and we want you to have fun! Remember which obstacles you didn’t complete or had to skip, train up for them, and try again at the next race!
The colors are there to help you choose which difficulty level you want to attempt. Currently, Green = Novice, Blue = Intermediate, and Black = Advanced.
The EPIC Course is for participants ages 13 and up.
Nope, we believe in having fun without getting all muddy!
If it rains, there may be some mud on the course, but we will never create obstacles that intentionally include mud.
Field size and terrain play a part in how many obstacles we are able to put out on the course, but typically we get between 25-35 obstacles out on the course for you!
The EPIC Course is approximately 1.5 to 1.75 miles long. The course layout changes at each venue location so actual course length will vary per event. It takes the average participant approximately 45-60 minutes to complete.
Please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with subject line “ELITE Course Judge” for more information.
Aside from massive bragging rights, podium winners receive some EPIC awards to decorate their room or gym with, along with a swag bag full of products from our EPIC sponsors! First place winners receive an EPIC championship belt, and 2nd/3rd place winners get EPIC trophies.
If you cannot complete an obstacle, then you cannot progress any further through the course until you finish the obstacle or the time cap for the ELITE Course elapses.
The initial Truck Pull has a time cap of 90-seconds, and a 2:30 time penalty if not completed within the time cap. All other obstacles to do not have individual time caps, but Athletes must complete the course within 15 minutes. If they do not, all obstacles not completed by the time 15 minutes has elapsed will receive a 2:30 time penalty per incomplete obstacle.
Yes! However, this takes some administrative magic to enter into the registration system correctly. To do this, simply sign up for the EPIC Course + ELITE Course registration option, go through the registration form, and sign up for either the ELITE Strength or Endurance course, then submit payment. After you’re finished, e-mail email@example.com and let them know you would also like to sign up for the other ELITE Course. Someone from the EPIC Team will get back to you with further instructions and most likely a magic spell.
At this time, no. The ELITE course can only be attempted after you have completed the EPIC Course competitive waves.
Go to the event Sign Up page and create an account. Select “EPIC Course + ELITE Course” from the registration options. Then select your EPIC Course Competitive Wave start time. If you want to join a team, create or join a team to the right of your selected EPIC Course competitive wave start time. Continue to the next page and follow the prompts. Later in the form you will be asked to select your ELITE Course start time from a drop-down menu. IMPORTANT: Make sure your ELITE Course start time selection reflects both your gender (Men or Women) and the division you want to compete in (Strength or Endurance). Continue through the form all the way to payment submission. Once payment is submitted, you’ll see a confirmation page and a confirmation e-mail will be sent to the e-mail registered under your account.
Currently the ELITE Course costs $35 on top of the EPIC Course Competitive Wave price.
Once an Athlete completes the EPIC Course in the competitive waves, they will then head over to the ELITE Check-In tent to check in. When it is their turn to compete, their judge will call them up to the ELITE Check-In tent and take them through their designated course lane. The Athlete will run the course individually with their assigned judge and have a certain amount of time in which to complete the entire course. Men and Women will have different weight standards for the Strength and Endurance divisions. The Top 3 Men and Women in both the Strength and Endurance divisions with the fastest combined EPIC Course + ELITE Course completion times will be given EPIC prizes during the Awards Ceremony!
ELITE Strength division involves heavier weights and less repetitions.
ELITE Endurance division involves lighter weights with more repetitions.

Yes! After a kid completes the KIDS Course for the first time, they will receive their EPIC finisher medal. After that, just like a ride at an amusement park, kids can jump back into line to run through the course as many times as they’d like! (Please note that each participant will only receive one finisher medal).
All participants in the KIDS Course receive an EPIC finisher medal, a smile they can’t wipe off their face, the irreplaceable feeling of accomplishment, and some pretty EPIC memories!

The code is good for a free entry into the EPIC Course Open Waves. If you plan to upgrade to the competitive waves or ELITE Course, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for further instructions when you want to register. Volunteers who sign up for COURSE BUILD shifts or RACE DAY SHIFT 1 may race at the event they volunteered for by bringing their voucher to the Registration tent.
You may bring your kids to the event as long as they are being supervised by another adult who is not also volunteering. Kids under the age of 13 are not permitted onto the EPIC Course or ELITE Course.
Yes! If you sign up for Volunteer SHIFT 1, you will be able to race for free at the end of your shift. Volunteers who sign up for COURSE BUILD shifts may also race for free on Race Day.
At this time, Volunteers who sign up for RACE DAY SHIFT 2 will be given a free race voucher to use at a future race, and may not race for free until the completion of their shift.
Depending on the shift you select, you may or may not be standing out in the sun for long periods of time. Volunteers are encouraged to wear clothing and sunscreen that will keep them protected from the sun. We will be providing you with your EPIC Volunteer T-shirt to wear during your shift. It’s also a good idea to bring along an extra water source and some snacks, just in case.
Not only do volunteers get to be part of the most EPIC volunteer team on the planet, they also get a pretty sweet EPIC Volunteer T-shirt, free food and drinks, discounts on swag, a voucher for a free race, and the satisfaction of helping to make EPIC Series truly EPIC!
At the moment we allow volunteers to select which shift time they would like. On Race Day we slot volunteers into which roles are needed the most, but do take into consideration special preferences or requests.
We currently allow ages 16 and up to volunteer.
